Reflections on Post-911 America: The Pain, The Hate, The Struggle, The Redemption

We are excited to invite you to participate in a panel discussion on Sunday (September 11, 2011) from 5 to 7 PM (please see details below). The panel discussion will start at 5 PM sharp. Please plan on arriving early inshAllah. We have worked hard in putting together a great panel of experts and your participation will make it a worthwhile effort.

This panel discussion supports Tarbiyah School's monthly theme for this month "Tauheed and Muslim Identity". The panel discussion also highlights a unique feature of Tarbiyah Curriculum, i.e., education is not only about providing educational opportunities to children but also about providing a forum to parents for intellectual debate and discussion. We will have arrangements for child care in the school building so that you can focus on the discussion.

Come listen to members of the media, the academia, the law enforcement and the civil society reflect on how they engaged with the event and the aftermath of 9/11. Share your thoughts and your fears and your hopes about the future of America.

First Day of the New Academic Year at Tarbiyah School

Alhamdulillah Tarbiyah Islamic School of Delaware started its new academic year on September 6, 2011. Tarbiyah school’s sincere and dedicated educators and staffs welcomed the students and parents in the morning as they arrived at the school.

School children started to arrive as early as about 8:30 am. Tarbiyah Principal Dr. Amna Latif was present at school since 6 am in the morning to make sure the new academic year starts smoothly and in a well organized manner. Teachers and staff members at Tarbiyah welcomed the new students and parents and handed them welcome packets which included the Parent-Student Handbook, Checklist of items to be submitted, and the required forms to be filled and returned to the school. According to Tarbiyah School’s policy, parents are required to sign in their children at the time of arrival and sign out at the time of pick up, so the parents were pretty busy in the morning while they dropped off their children and received their welcome packets.

Teachers guided the children in their respective classrooms. Morning assembly started timely at 9:00 am, thanks to all the teachers, staff members, and parents for their organized efforts and co-operation that helped maintain the schedule on the first day of school.

Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten were the first classes to be dismissed at 2:30 pm.  Parents signed off their children at the time of pick up, some stopped by at the office desk for general inquiry. Several parents came by appointment for guided tours of the school and the daycare.

We are thankful to Alllah (SWT) to make the day a pleasant experience for Tarbiyah School, its students, parents, and teachers.

Eid Festival Report & Jazakallahu Khair

Tarbiyah School would like to thank the Muslim community in Delaware for making the first Delaware Eid Festival a successful event. All parking lots at Tarbiyah School were full and the excitement was everywhere. Children and parents had a lot of fun with rides such as the trackless train and the fire truck in addition to other rides. CAMALI show was canceled because of the unforeseen travel hazard it ran into on the morning of Eid but the face painting and henna made up for the lost excitement. Children and families from New Jersey, Chester, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Elkton, Wilmington and other areas of neighboring states also joined in to enjoy festivities and appreciated Tarbiyah School’s efforts in this regard. We are humbled by the community support. جزاك الله خير

We thank you once again for your support of the festival. We promise to continue bringing Muslim children and youth more opportunities for educational and fun activities - إنشا الله

جزاك الله خير
